Who Should Attend?
The US DOT requires training for ALL hazmat employees, including hazmat employers with direct supervision. Initial training must occur within 90 days of hire. Retraining is mandatory every 3 years and when rules or the employee’s job responsibilities change.
- Read and apply 49 CFR regulations
- Classify or name hazardous materials
- Sign shipping papers
- Load, unload, or handle hazmat
- Provide or affix placards
- Prepare hazmat packages for shipment
- Prepares hazardous materials for shipment
- Loads, unloads or handles hazmat
- Designs, manufactures, inspects, marks, tests, or reconditions containers
- Operates a transport vehicle
- Oversee hazmat employees/operation

Course Format
Training is an instructor-led multimedia presentation incorporating instructor demonstration, Handling Hazardous Material Guidebook and learner practical hands-on approach. Training will run approximately 3 hours. Learners will be given written exam and will receive a certificate of completion with training contact hours, signed and dated by the WORCS instructor upon successful completion of the scheduled training.
Our DOT Hazmat Transportation Training Course, GHS compliant, is an instructor-led certification course covering the specific training requirements outlined under 49 CFR 172.704.
This training is a systematic program that ensures hazmat employees are:
- Familiar with the general provisions of Subchapter C
- Able to recognize and identify hazardous materials
- Knowledgeable of specific requirements of Subchapter C applicable to functions performed by the employee, and
- Knowledgeable of emergency response information, self-protection measures, and accident prevention methods and procedures
