Who Should Attend?
Learners are provided with general awareness about recognizing and preventing hazards commonly found in the workplace. OSHA recommends this training as an orientation to occupational safety and health. This course provides basic awareness training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of workplace hazards.

Learning Outcomes
- At the completion of this course, learners will have the tools to:
- Understand the OSH Act, functions and resources of OSHA
- Locate OSHA rules that apply to your workplace
- Be aware of the OSHA inspection priorities and describe the inspection process
- Discuss the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees under the OSH Act
- Describe hazards associated with their work, how to avoid and control them
- Discuss the basic elements of a safety and health program

- Introduction to OSHA
- Walking and working surfaces including fall protection
- Exit routes, emergency action plans, fire prevention plans and fire protection
- Electrical
- Personal protective equipment
- Hazard communication including GHS
- Materials handling
- Bloodborne pathogens
- Hazardous materials
- Safety & health program overview
Course Format
Training is instructor-led multimedia presentation incorporating instructor lecture, group discussion, and hands-on break-out sessions. Learners will use a workbook that contains a hard copy of the presentation, forms, and tools that they can apply in your workplace. They will also have access to the WORCS Website library of useful tools.
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will receive a certificate signed by the WORCS instructor and an OSHA 10-Hour card issued by OSHA.
This course is 10-hours of instruction time lasting two days with the second day ending at noon. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
